What does this quote mean? 10 Points!!!!?
The quote is, “A society grows great when old people plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit.” I know it’s a greek proverb. A proverb is a saying of wisdom or truth. Please help. Thanks in advance!
It means that a society will prosper when the wise, usually expected to be older people, teach the young. The elders will not live long enough to see the young mature, but by passing on their wisdom, they can ensure that the society will continue to improve.
